A complete boa constrictor skeleton showing excellent detail of the skull with teeth, and the vertebrae and ribs. In the stomach area (about 150 mm x 75 mm) the remains of its last meal can be clearly seen in the presence of many bony scutes dermal armour of a young crocodile Diplocynodon sp. cf. CRO 1.2) An X-ray of the original shows the tail of the crocodile pointing towards the mouth of the snake, indicating that the crocodile was swallowed head first. The snake is coiled and measures 1500 mm overall. From Messel, Germany.
