Collection: Reptiles
One of the main groups of vertebrate animals on Earth. They reached their peak during the Mesozoic (made up of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods). Many groups of reptiles are now extinct including marine reptiles and pterosaurs. The non-avian theropod dinosaur reptiles evolved into modern birds, whilst snakes, crocodiles and turtles are all examples of extant reptiles that are also found in the fossil record.
